Heavy-duty industrial series
A gantry band sawmill for production sawing. The log is clamped on the bed and the head walks the rails, so the log is held and indexed by hydraulics rather than by hand. Cast-iron flywheels carry a 7,050 mm band at 23 m/s. Takes logs to 1,700 mm and cuts cants 1,535 mm wide by 1,100 mm deep, in lengths to 4.5 m. Diesel powered, with the control station alongside the bed.
Figures are for the IN1700. The larger IN2100 and the smaller IN1300 are on the same page below.

The assemblies that decide how the cut comes out.

The band runs on two cast-iron flywheels at 628 rpm, putting 23 m/s of blade speed into the log. Flywheel mass is what keeps that speed steady when the blade loads up in a knot or a wet butt - a light wheel slows, the cut wanders and the band kinks. Cast iron also soaks up the vibration that shows up as washboard in the boards.

A hydraulic motor on the column raises and lowers the head, and a second circuit walks the carriage along the rails at 4–20 m/min. The operator sets the board thickness from the control station and turns a dial for the feed rate - there is no hand wheel to crank and no chain to keep adjusted.

The 27 hp diesel and the hydraulic pump are built onto the frame, so the mill runs on its own in a yard or on a landing with no supply. The same engine drives the hydraulics, which is why the clamp, the lift and the walk drive all keep working while the blade is loaded in the cut.

Eight hydraulic cylinders pull the log down onto the bed and hold it there through the pass. A 1,700 mm hardwood butt cannot shift or spring once it is clamped, which is what keeps the first cut straight and every board after it the same thickness.

Up to 1,700 mm in diameter, cutting 1,535 mm wide by 1,100 mm deep, in lengths to 4.5 m. The IN2100 takes 2,100 mm and the IN1300 takes 1,300 mm - both are in the comparison table on this page.
Diesel as standard, 27 hp on this size, with an electric motor option. The hydraulic circuit runs off the same engine, so the clamp, the lift and the walk drive work whether or not there is a supply on site.
Same head, flywheels and control station. The difference is how much log the rails and the frame will take. This page covers the IN1700.
